I bought Large/Tall from FreshCleanThreads for YEARS! They went cheap! Changed whatever they were doing and now the fit and material is totally different and feels cheap. I argued with them for a while over email to try and send me the old stuff and eventually got a refund and stopped buying there

It is really sad to see companies lose their loyalty to both their employees and their customers. If you build or create a quality product that lasts, people will keep coming back. Loyalty over the long term works both ways and creates monetary success.

I'm a 60s child, and I remember when levi's were made in America, and when I was in school, my mom would every year at the ending of summer would take us to buy new school clothes except levi's because they would last for quite a while she would buy. a whole size bigger and longer for growth spurts or the holes in them were to big or too many. As a young man I used that same principle anyone remember Zody's department store I worked there in my early 20s in the 80s we had gotten a shipment of levi's 501 ridged originals we were given the opportunity to buy them before they hit the floor for the public, at 11.00 dollars can you imagine American made levi's now they are made in every country but America funny😂 when European designers seen holes in levi's that came from hard work or play decided to make jeans with holes and shredded them and sell them at extremely high prices and we Americans fell for it hook line and sinkers and we're still buying them. 😂😂😂😂

As far as affordable work shirts, carhartt and Ariat are best. Legendary Whitetails makes some good shirt jacks and flannel shirts that although marketed as casual are actually really tough. I wear them all the time.

You are the first person I have seen to go into detail about the cons of trade work. Been doing HVAC/Sheetmetal mechanic right at 40 years now and all for the same small company. There is reason like you said you don’t see many older workers still out in the field. My body went down 25 years ago.hands,knees and back.i live with horrible chronic back pain now.life is pain meds,back injections and two nerve blocks a year just to be able have any quality of life. Carl, we're all looking forward to a deeper dive on Filson. And not in an attempt to ostracize Filson, but I bet it's a really interesting study on the subject. We've all seen their quality to price ratio deteriorate over the years. I will say, I sent for repair. an old, cared for but well worn tin cloth packer coat, and the customer service was very good, the repair was done extremely well and beyond expectation, and they didn't charge me a dime. Credit where credit is due.

I would put Levi’s high above, the quality decline from the 70-early 2000s Levi’s denim and how built they were, how much they were coveted by many people and how much they are now, now I life Levi’s 501, 505s and 514, but the quality isn’t as good as my wrangler cowboy cuts and the denim feels better but won’t last as long and Levi’s bag out weirdly on some jeans

Carhartt may not have been bought out but quality is not the same in my opinion. My union usa made jackets, bibs and flanel pants are awesome decades later.
